Mini SPI, the ECU does not read rpm signal from CKP. Diagnosis & solution
In the previous episode we thought we solved the problem with the gears in this little Mini 1275 cc SPI but, how can we check it properly? Going for a ride.
However, first thing is to start the engine and… No, it does NOT start. What’s going on here? A new surprise of our beloved English friend?
In this new episode we will see the summary of several weekends, together with our inexperience, our eager to learn and our persistence. Thanks to your knowledge, that you shared to help us, we made it. So, this episode like the others, is dedicated to you, my Petrolhead friend.
The ECU does not read the rpm signal from the CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor). This is the title of this looooooong episode, but you will see even more, much more. Problems with the Verto clutch, with the ECU, the injection, the ignition system, and also many tests looking for the root cause of the problem (or problems) with the engine and the clutch, even using the app for diagnosis to read the values from the ECU of the Mini SPI. Trust me, there are lots to see.
I can only tell you to take a seat, grab something cold to dring and relax. We hope our experience and the knowledge from other people summarised in this video will help you in case you encounter similar problems in your Mini SPI or similar car.
P.S.: This video is dedicated to Teixiera, Bemúdez and Delgado, for their great help, their patience will the loooooong phone calls, for wasting their phone data sending pictures and videos via Whatsapp and for their advice during these neverending Saturdays. Thank you very much.
